Xiaomi 15 to get 4 Android and 5 years of security updates
Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 15 smartphone in China today. The device comes with many major upgrades over its predecessor. The most-awaited HyperOS 2.0 features were also announced alongside the Xiaomi 15 launch. For software enthusiasts, the question is how many software upgrades the Xiaomi 15 will receive.
Xiaomi 15 to get 4 Android and 5 years of security updates
Xiaomi is committed to offering 4 Android upgrades and 5 years of security support to the Xiaomi 15. Furthermore, its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14, also has the same software update policy. Xiaomi 15 launched with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, so it is eligible for up to Android 19. The device is also eligible for security updates till 2029.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro and the Xiaomi 15 Limited Edition also have the same software update support policy. Apart from this, a popular Google Lens Circle to Search feature that was recently rolled out to the Xiaomi 14T also comes with the Xiaomi 15 series.
Qualcomm’s latest high-end chipset, Snapdragon 8 Elite, is powering the Xiaomi 15. It features a 6.36-inch 1.5K OLED display with 3,200 nits of peak brightness. The device comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Xiaomi 15 offers a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP wide, 50MP ultra-wide, and 50MP telephoto camera sensor.
